Dr. Madhuri Barthwal is the first Female Music Composer of All India Radio.She has worked relentessly for the propagation ,documentation and conservation of Uttarakhands folk music (Garhwali,Kumaoni,Jaunsari)for last 45 years.She has extensively travelled ,interfaced real folk artists of all ages. Hundreds of young artists were taught and guided by her.She has also documented the rare Folk Instruments of the region and has helped in keeping the tradition alive.In her unique initiative she has blended the folk music of the area with Indian classical music.Now she’s devoted to the cause of propagating music through the NGO-(Manu lok Sanskritik Dharohar Samvardhan Sansathan)
